It's all about what is acceptable risk rather than just listening as too many boards do to their CFO and legal advisor saying we can't afford it. If we considered risk properly then the danger in travelling to take the children to school would be too great and we would all stay and do home school - now that would save the taxp[ayers some money not having to build schools, repair vandalism, employ teachers, etc and we would all be the worse off for it as we develoepd an isular society without many of the broader communication and interaction skills. We need life's experiences and we need to keep a balance. Too many of our bean counters and legal advisors have gone overboard and this has resulted in directions to our safety people so that the idea of establishing the broader context for a proper risk assessment no longer takes place. EVerything in life has to have a degree of what must be considered as acceptable risk and it is up to the broader community to ensure that this is reflected in our legal system so that everybody is not sued for everything. Responsibility for ones own actions and also get a balance in waht should be cosndired the norm in society.
