Teacher Education was an idea first conceived back in 1998, when the author, James Burton finished his first year of teacher training in Adelaide, South Australia. A simple idea based on a simple issue - what to do with all the notes and texts he had learned that year?
The solution of course, was to create a website using all of the notes as the content. And surprisingly, the website grew and grew and became very popular with upwards of 200,000 visitors in it’s second year online. But, as happens with many projects of this nature, over the years it simply became too much. Work and life stepped in, took over and the site was moved and changed format many times. At one point it almost died completely, but not quite.
So, with James now residing in Yorkshire in England and teaching ICT as a specialty subject to primary children in Key Stage Two, he has decided that Teacher Education needs to be revived. And if discussions with James are anything to judge, the NEW Teacher Education promises to be even better than the first…
